Evolution
Over time, bees have evolved different sensory systems that have aided in their success. Due to the ever-changing flowering times of bees’ food sources, they have evolved to be adaptable, communicate within the hive and recognise and remember landmarks along routes (Srinivasan 2010). The importance of thermoregulation and heating wings when in cold environments, allows bees to be competitive in comparison to other pollinators, reaching food sources before other organisms. The evolution of eusociality has allowed bees to form specialised roles and complete tasks as a team, each aiding in the survival and success of the hive.
