bee heating system
Due to the diverse range of habitats and environments in which bees are located, bees have evolved the ability to heat their wings up to 30 degrees Celsius, on a cold winter morning, without moving them. This heating behavior is also seen within the hive where specialised ‘heater’ bees perform thermoregulation and maintain warmer temperatures close to the pupae (Bujok et al. 2002).
